    • Brilliant Holiday But The Two Day 'Refresher' Lessons Are A Waste Of Money

Just returned from a week's skiing in Arinsal, staying at the Hotel Palarine. Have to say the hotel was excellent, likewise the skiing and resort which were superb and we had a thoroughly good time.

The one gripe we have got is with regard to the two day 'refresher' lessons that we received from the ski school. They were supposed to run from 12-2 Monday and Tuesday. In fairness we couldn't get up to the slope on Tuesday due to bad weather so these comments are limited to just the one day - however this alone caused a bad impression. Due to really bad organisation Monday's lesson finally started at 12.20 and ended at 1.50, with no suggestion of making up for lost time. That by itself wouldn't necessarily have been an issue if the lesson had been good. It wasn't! It consisted of going up a total of about 5 slopes and laboriously (as in long windy turns across the slope) coming down again. The instructor appeared unenthusiastic and what instruction there was consisted in total of about 10 minutes of very generalised comments. There was no individual assessment, which as there were only five of us would have been very easy to do, and no real instruction as such.

Not quite sure what we were supposed to be 'refreshing' but it certainly wasn't any skiing techniques. We would suggest that you don't waste 120 Euros on this. In hindsight we would have got much better value from having a private lesson for an hour or so rather than just playing follow the leader aimlessly going down a few easy runs, caterpillar-style.
