The Arinsal Ski and Snowboard School sits at the bottom of the Arinsal slopes and has an excellent reputation for the quality of its teaching. Instructors come from around the world, including many from the UK and Ireland who return year after year — having lots of native English-speaking instructors means learners progress that little bit quicker with the language barrier removed. The school is extremely family-friendly with a superb reputation for beginners and for getting children to fall in love with skiing. Children can join ski school from age six, or snowboarding from age twelve.

When lessons run
Group lesson timings.
In busy weeks groups run both in the mornings and in the afternoons; in quieter weeks there will only be morning groups. Lesson times are allocated at the point of booking — all lessons will be booked for mornings until the sessions are full, at which point they switch to afternoon availability. Weekend group classes run as three-hour mornings on Saturday and Sunday.

Ability Levels
Choosing the right level.
Try to grade yourself before your first lesson — the instructors will move you to a suitable group if needed.
There are four ability levels used across the Pal-Arinsal ski school. Don't worry if you're not 100% sure — at the start of the week the school splits learners into groups according to ability, so you'll end up where you should be. For families: separate classes are arranged for children, and you can ask to align lesson times.
Beginners
Never skied or snowboarded before
Level 1
(Green/Blue): Able to turn right & left and use a drag lift
Level 2
(Blue/Red): Confident on all blue runs
Level 3
(Red/Black): Able to ski or board red runs with confidence and control

Why take lessons in Arinsal?
Ski and snowboard lessons help you enjoy your holiday all the more, and they're not just for beginners; even advanced skiers and riders keep taking them. Arinsal's instructors are qualified to the highest levels and for skiers there's even an advanced course covering equipment, snow types and avalanche safety alongside technique. Group vs private lessons
Private lessons cost more but give you the instructor's full attention; group lessons are cheaper but shared with others of similar ability. Coming as a group? Book an instructor just for your party for the week so you ski together with dedicated tuition.
Flexible group durations
Only skiing a few days, or want the freedom to explore Pal-Arinsal, Arcalís or Grandvalira away from lessons? You can join group lessons and drop out after three or four days. If you decide to add days once in resort you can pay a supplement at the school, though the total will be more than booking the full course in advance.
