Frequently Asked Questions

We've put together a list of questions that we get asked a lot so hopefully you'll find quite a few answers here. If not, we've got the forum where you can ask any questions you like, otherwise feel free to send a message from our contact form.

For our FAQ section related to bookings please visit: Arinsal | La Massana.

Why choose Arinsal?

Arinsal has a fantastic friendly atmosphere with many guests and workers coming back year after year after year. The skiing and snowboarding on offer is very varied and as the Vallnord full area lift pass covers three different areas, there is someting for everybody.

Where is Andorra?

Andorra is a tiny landlocked country nestled on the border between France and Spain. The history of Andorra is very interesting and varied and, although it has its own government, it remains a co-principality with France and Spain. Andorra does not have its own airport and most tourists arrive by flying to either Toulouse, Girona or Barcelona, with transfer times varying between 3 to 4 hours depending on which airport you fly to and which resort you are travelling, however they can be longer if the weather is bad!

What is there to do if I don't ski or snowboard?

Even if you don't ski or snowboard, you can still find plenty to do here! If you want to go up to see people on the mountain you can buy just a "gondola pass" allowing you to go to the base of the pistes. Here you will find cafés and shops, as well as two terraces overlooking the slopes.

Arinsal itself has walks leading from it, and snowshoes can be rented from around the village. If you want to stay away from the snow then Ordino, around 25-30 minutes away by bus has a few museums and is a picturesque village.

Also, don't forget about the capital city of Andorra La Vella, where you will also find Caldea, the thermal spa. Have a look at the resort activities page.

Why should I become a member of the Arinsal.co.uk forum?

You don't have to be a member of the forum to post on it, but by becoming a member you get to see when new posts have been made, plus you can add a photo and a bit of information about yourself. When you become a member, you only need to provide limited information, and all information will be kept safely and not passed on to anybody else. You will also receive a few e-mails each year from Arinsal.co.uk giving you an update as to what is going on.

What will the weather be like when I go to Arinsal?

The weather in the mountains can change very quickly, and you should be prepared for very cold temperatures as well as hot sunny days on the slopes! Andorra has a very good snow record, and recent seasons have seen good snow levels. It is difficult to predict the weather conditions for a given week or month, so it is best to keep checking the weather forecast & snow report.

What clothes should I bring?

As the weather can be unpredictable you should bring a selection of clothes that will keep you warm. Have a look at our 'What to Wear' guide for some ideas.

What time is it in Andorra?

Andorra is one hour ahead of the UK.

What type of plug socket is used in Andorra?

Andorra uses the standard two-pin European socket. Adaptor plugs can be purchased at the Sant Moritz supermarket in the centre of Arinsal.

Should I book group school or private school?

This comes down to personal preference and the amount of money you have to spend on lessons. With group school you will meet new people and it is much more social, whereas with private lessons you usually progress faster.

Can we have an instructor just for our group?

Yes you can! It depends on how many people are in your group, but this can be organised either paying group prices if your group is large enough or a private instructor can be booked to look after just your group.

Do I need a photo for my lift pass?

No you don't.

How do I get to work in Arinsal?

There are a wide variety of jobs in Arinsal from hotels to bars to jobs on the mountain, as well as jobs with tour operators too. Have a look at our guide to working in Arinsal for more information.
