    • El Dorado freeride competition

Yesterday we got up at the crack of dawn to head over to Arcalis to see the El Dorado freeride competition. We thought getting there early we would get to see all the setting up of the competition too. Though the truth be I think we were the first ones there and nothing much started happening until 10:30ish. So we did a few runs first of which weren’t amazing ?(

First chair of the day was up into the freeride area behind La Coma restaurant. It was hard, icy and the small narrow track of a piste that is there was not in good condition at all. So we then stuck to the blue run down in front of La Coma and this was much better. After a few runs and a coffee stop we headed up the 6 man to the top of Arcalis where a good crowd had gathered trying to get the best view of the riders in the competition. It was a little cold due to it being a bit windy. But we did have good seats on the edge of the mountain in the crowd. The only shame was we were just too far away to get any really good pictures. The riders all picked their lines and charged through the rocky gullys from the top to come gliding on to the open snow at the bottom. Had there been more snowfall this season I think it would have been a lot more exciting but all competitors did a fab job of what snow is there.

We have put some pics on the website...have a look! The best ones are of the choppers really! :D
