    • Three guys in twenties going to Arinsal

Hi there, me and a couple of friends are arriving in Arinsal this Sunday (25th). We are all fairly experienced skiiers. Has anyone got any advice on which resort in vallnord would be best for us.
Give us a shout if anyone else is going at that time :) .
      Thanks for any advice,
      Rob
    • The best place to go is Arcallis for the skiing, but Arinsal for the nightlife. it is best to skii at Pal at the beginning of the week as Arinsal is busier, especailly at the bottom of the slopes because there are so many beginners and ski school peeps.
If you are at Pal you can get the telecabin accross to Arinsal and ski the upper slopes which are the best for experienced skiiers.

If you do Pal on the first day, then go to Arcallis you can then decide for yourself which you prefer. Arcallis generally has little to no queing at all.

      Enjoy your trip.

Exactly! The free bus to Arcalis only runs Tuesday to Saturday, so best to explore Arinsal or Pal on the Monday (depending on how adventurous you feel). If you're staying in Arinsal, personally, I'd ski over to Pal from Arinsal just to save you the bother of getting the bus down to La Massana. The school meets at 10:00 on Monday so to avoid the groups, make sure you're on the 6-man (Les Fonts) by 10:30 at the latest to avoid them!

Once at the top of Les Fonts, traverse across the top of the terrain park and depending on how you feel either take the 4-man chair (Port Negre) which is very slow, or the button lift (El Coll) which has some quite steep places, to the top of Arinsal where you can take the cable car over to Pal.

The weather forecast over the next few days is a bit rough with heavy snow and quite high winds forecast so just look out for lifts that may be closed. At the bottom of the gondola in Arinsal there is a board which shows all the lifts and runs in Vallnord, and says which are open and closed.

As you are experienced then a trip or few to Arcalis is well recommended, and with new snow it will be amazing! Have a look at the Arcalis page under the Mountain tab for details of the bus timetable and the brand new guided tours of Arcalis. Also, due to demand, Arinsal.co.uk will now organize a coach trip to Arcalis on Saturdays which is €15 for return transport, but you have the benefit of guaranteed seats on the bus there and back.

As for nightlife, there is plenty going on in Arinsal so just look out for posters saying where to go, and have a look at the Bars page under the Resort tab to get discount vouchers for around the town.

      Have a great holiday!
    • Steve, you talk about guaranteed seats on the coach back from Arcalis on Saturdays. Is this not the case between Tuesday & Friday on the free bus. Is it ever the case that the bus can't manage to accommodate everybody returning back to Arinsal & have to leave people behind?
    • Once the free bus is full, it's full without another one being sent. That being said the bus gets busier as the week goes on as more and more people feel like venturing out. I think they would probably try to squeeze as many people on as possible, but the feedback over the last few weeks has been that people would prefer an organised trip for peace of mind which has lead to this trip being organised.
