I’ve just got back from a lovely morning skiing in Pal, first thing this morning the runs where hard packed and a little icy in places. Within a few hours the runs had softened to spring conditions and they were a lot of fun, especially under the bright blue sky and sunshine Over the next few days the temperatures are forecast to drop and a sprinkling of a few centimetres is due to fall over the next coming week. The first snow is due tomorrow, perhaps time to pack an extra layer just in case!!

Spring has most definitely arrived, first thing in the morning it’s still a little fresh but by mid day the layers are off, personally i’ve started skiing in just a t-shirt and my jacket. If you have a backpack it’s definitely a good idea to carry extra layers the temperatures can change very quickly and being on the mountain freezing cold is not pleasant!! My favourite time is first thing in the morning... the slopes are empty and with beautiful corduroy lines, I love being the first person to …

The village is getting quieter, some of the bars and restaurants are starting to close, but a few are re-opening for Easter. Don’t worry there's still plenty of choice and lots of atmosphere

Arcalis.... one of my favourite places in the world, especially last Wednesday, it was my day off and the day started bright eyed catching the 8.30 bus to Arcalis. What made it so special??? One word POWDER .....woop woop. We had blue sky, sunshine and fresh fresh tracks, AMAZING, definitely worth the early morning start.... Who needs a layin when you get the opportunity to put fresh lines down an untouched run, not me hehe, perhaps a sneaky afternoon nap instead.

Once the mountain closes it becomes a silent place, no screams from excited skiers or snowboarders, no sounds of turns being made, shapes being created. All you can hear is the occasional faint hum of the groomer’s heavily at work, creating perfectly straight lines, ready for the eager skiers and boarder first thing the following morning. The silence doesn’t last long, by at 10 past 5 every Wednesday Arinsal by Night begins. I very quickly discovered this is not just an event for the younger age…

It’s snowing across Vallnord today, what a great way for the Mountains to send their love to everyone with new snow on Valentine’s Day. I hope your all having a special day with loved ones, enjoying the slopes. I’ve just come down from doing a couple of runs this morning in Arinsal, the slopes are looking good, they’d been beautifully groomed overnight and the few centimetres of fresh snow has made for a great morning creating some lines. The past few days have been a little warmer and made the …

Hi James, You’ll find a wide range of helmets available in the shops here in resort, the price really varies depending upon the brand, style etc, generally they are priced between €55 and €215. The majority are around €90 and Sant Moritz currently have 20% off the price of a helmet. Alternatively you could look at renting a helmet, you can do this through our online shop and the cost is €22 for 6 days. Here’s the link for the shop arinsal.co.uk/shop/arinsal I’ve been up the mountain most days th…

Over the last few weeks my board has been put to the back of the cupboard and I’ve been enjoying shaping the slopes on my skis. My recent ski school lessons have not only fuelled my love for skiing but also improved my technique enormously. I owe a BIG thank you to Vallnord ski school and in particular to my instructor Stephanie, my class and I think you are amazing sarahschool.jpg You’ve taught us to dance on skis (improving our posture) to synchronised tandem riding (improving our speed contro…

  • I skied over in Arcalis yesterday and had an awesome day, loving the beautiful groomed runs and off piste powder. It’s predicted to start dumping it down later today and over the next few days. In the past hour, the sky has turned white and the temperatures has dropped....roll on powder days

Hi Ric, As Steve mentioned it was part of the set for the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle, here is a link to some of the photos taken, courtesy of Skippy from the Sant Moritz shop. arinsal.co.uk/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=975 Pretty amazing photos and tricks being pulled don’t you think!!

  • Hi Mark, Driving between Arinsal and Soldeu will take about 40mins, depending upon the weather conditions and traffic etc, it’s a super easy drive and very well sign posted. From Arinsal you’ll head into La Massana, then onto Andorra la Vella the capital of Andorra. From here you’ll see signs for Encamp/Canillo to the left, this road will take you directly past Encamp, Canillo and onto Soldeu. If you’re not planning on hiring a car, you could either meet in Andorra la Vella or catch the bus to S…

Hello Graeme, Bet you can’t wait until you arrive, not long now!! Upon arrival into resort your reps will tell you when and where you can collect your equipment from etc, usually this can be collected on the Sunday afternoon, generally the rental shops in the village are open till around 20.00, and if you're collecting from the top of the gondola it has to be before 17.00, but it depends upon the company. Other activities you could do in resort on the Sunday could include bowling. There’s a bowl…

  • It's been another beautiful bright sunny day in Arinsal today. The slopes are nicely groomed and hard packed. It’s a little icy in places, the runs in the sun are best the ones to stick too. Fresh snow is forecasted for later this week.... happy days

  • Hi Bri, Most garages in Andorra stocked snow chains, in my opinion purchasing them from supermarkets like Andorra 2000 are the cheapest option. We’d definitely recommend you carry them, when driving in Andorra the roads often go into the mountains and the road/weather conditions can vary/change quickly. If the weather is particularly bad, the police sometimes set up road blocks to check for snow tyres or chains. For the safety of yourself and others they will not allow you to continue if you are…
