Mountain Walking Trails in Ordino & La Massana
There are many beautiful mountain walking trails in the parishes of Ordino & La Massana. The routes are maintained by the relative Comús of Ordino and La Massana. The Comú is similar to a parish council, of which there are seven in Andorra.
As the snow melts and spring turns to summer the fields start to turn green and mountain trails become exposed so you can explore the country, whilst enjoy the beautiful vistas with snow capped mountains. There are numerous routes which are marked, with landmarks to look out for along the way, and different grades of walk to make sure there is something for every level.
There are several routes starting from Arinsal, but for others you may need to travel to La Massana, Ordino or Arcalis so you might also want to invest in a good map covering the whole of Andorra.
List of Walking Routes
If you're looking for a list of walking routes, the Comú of Ordino have an excellent guide which gives timings, routes, difficulty ratings and much more. Their guide can be found by following this link:
Using the pictures and colour-coding, hikers can get a quick idea of the trail, its level of difficulty and interest, and what can be found there. To estimate the times, these were based on a climbing speed of 300 metres at 350 metres per hour, a descent of 450 metres at 500 metres per hour, with 4 km/h on the flatter sections, not counting stopping times. These parameters mean that most people could carry out the trails with no particular difficulty. Clearly, anyone used to the mountain or in good physical condition could do them in 30% to 50% less time.
